National Gallery of Ireland: Historic Building | Dublin

The National Gallery of Ireland houses the National Collection of European and Irish Fine Art and has evolved over 150 years through a number of significant alterations and expansions. The refurbishment of the historic wings is part of an overall master plan that aims to develop a coherent and accessible circulation system through the various layers of the Gallery.

Palestinian Museum | Bir Zeit

The landscape of the Palestine has the ‘worked’ quality of a city; every element of it has been touched and tells a story of intervention, production, culture, environment and commerce. Like a city, the terraced landscape has embedded within it its history. The approach to the Palestinian Museum is to draw on this history of the terraced landscape, embedding the museum into its immediate site and drawing from this site to tell a larger story of a diverse culture.

Book of Kells Visitor Centre | Dublin

Canadian Canoe Museum | Ontario

The Canadian Canoe Museum houses the world’s largest collection of canoes and kayaks on a site adjacent to the historic Peterborough Lift Lock on the Trent Severn Waterway. Maximising the opportunity of a Canoe Museum along the waterway, the Museum is horizontal, its workshops, and public spaces, creating vistas to the Lock and up and down the Canal.

University of Greenwich: Library and Academic Building | London

Located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Maritime Greenwich, this building is home to the main University of Greenwich Library and the Departments for Architecture. Landscape and Arts.

Museum Tonofenfabrik | Lahr, Germany

The listed Tonofenfabrik, the old Clay Oven Factory, is situated in the historic centre of Lahr in Germany, close to the medieval castle ‘Storchenturm’ and the remains of the medieval town wall. The building is reinvented as a City Museum creating a destination for tourists and residents and connecting with the history and heritage of Lahr.

London Olympics 2012: Diamond Bridge | Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London

Two permanent bridges are linked by a narrow diagonal span over Carpenters Lock at the centre of the Olympic Park. During the Olympics a central temporary infill between the bridges accommodates the crowds. In the legacy park, two bowls are created on either side of the lock linking the upper park concourse with the lower level of towpaths and waterways.

National Centre for Contemporary Arts | Moscow

The National Centre for Contemporary Arts is designed as a vertical Museum at the centre of Khodynskoe Pole, a former airfield in Moscow. The verticality and profile of the cantilevered galleries gives the Museum a presence in the skyline allowing the museum to rise above the vast horizontal bulk of the adjacent Aviapark shopping centre.

Neubau Zentrales Archiv | Weimar

This art depot and conservation centre accommodates artefacts managed by the “Klassik Stiftung Weimar”. The building is conceived of as a collection of storage boxes, a workshop box to the front, a central raised circulation / servicing box and a large storage box.

Giant’s Causeway Visitors’ Centre | Northern Ireland

The Giant’s Causeway lies in Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast World Heritage Site, a landscape of cliffs formed by hexagonal basalt stones, agricultural landscapes and cliffside walks. Utilising the large difference in level across the site, two folds are created in the landscape. One, extending the line of the ridge, accommodates the building. The second, extending the level of the road, screens the car park from view.

Quellos Fitout | Hong Kong

Office fitout for Quellos, an asset management firm, subsequently acquired by Blackrock. The design integrates daylight, artificial light & the reflectivity of surfaces, both vertical & horizontal within the space to create the working environment.

Áras Chill Dara | Kildare, Ireland

Áras Chill Dara is the administrative headquarters of Co. Kildare. This project is formed around the civic garden which slowly inclines from the street to the building entrance, its sloped surface making the deep garden visible from the street.

Student Housing Maynooth University | Ireland

The proposal for student housing is based on a three-sided quad which allows a chain of interlinked quads to be formed, switching direction to respond to orientation or existing buildings.

Berlin Botanical Gardens | Berlin, Germany

The new visitor centre is understood as a part of the overall garden. The new entrance and visitor centre are organised as a sequence of happenings and moments connecting the existing geometries of the site with the new café, shop, exhibition and ticketing along the main route and reflecting the diagonal axis of the museum in the timber structure of the roof of the visitor centre.

Ikareum: Lilienthal Flight Museum | Anklam, Germany

Conversion of Nikolaikirche into the Lilienthal Flight Museum & Education Centre.

Arabsat Headquarters | Riyadh

The Arabsat headquarters is located within Riyadhʼs diplomatic quarter, an area regulated by strict urban design guidelines. The building reaches out to hold the siteʼs three primary corners, 3 points defined by the guidelines and then curves inwards to make gardens sheltered by the building.
